There have been two consistent themes in speaking with all the medical professionals which are 1) we won’t know the extent of the loss of function until Noah fully wakes up and 2) the road to recovery will be long. We are forever grateful that Noah is alive and a long road to recovery is better than the alternatives. Littleton Adventist Hospital (LAH) works closely with Craig Hospital which specializes in neuro-rehabilitation of patients with traumatic brain injury (and spinal cord injury). We’re blessed to have Craig so close by as it is a Top 10 rehab hospital and hope Noah will be accepted there for rehab. We’ll provide more info as we work through the transition from ICU to rehab.

As of Monday 5/14/18 Noah is is receiving comprehensive expert care at Craig Hospital. Dr. Alan Weintraub (Medical Director of Traumatic Brain Injury Program at Craig Hospital) is personally overseeing Noah’s rehabilitation program. The team caring for Noah includes 24×7 attendance by a “tech” (currently Noah is “locked” in his wheelchair anytime he needs to move and only staff can open the lock – he’s not happy about that but it guarantees his safety and minimizes risk of falling and additional injury). Other team members include a Neuro Psychologist, a Speech Pathology Therapist (SPT) who deals with most of the cognitive issues, a Physical Therapist (think walking, climbing stairs), an Occupational Therapist (help him get back to modding nerf blasters), a Nutritionist (very important!), a case manager overseeing everything from intake to discharge, a 24×7 team of two nurses, a teacher, a good personal friend working at Craig providing moral support, and many other individuals that help make the wheel go round. Sounds expensive, I know but we’ve been assured that insurance covers most of it for which we’re grateful!
